[PHPExcel] Wstawianie dynamicznie generowanej grafiki Opcje

Witam,
mam problem ze wstawieniem obrazka generowanego dynamicznie w PHP. Obrazek wstawiam poprzez:

[PHP] pobierz, plaintext 
$image->setPath('http://host/progressbar.php?value=20', FALSE);
[PHP] pobierz, plaintext 

W wyniku, podczas otwierania wygenerowanego dokumentu w Excelu, otrzymuję:

Excel cannot open the file 'xxx.xlsx' because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not beed corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file.

Generowany plik to PNG - ma wysyłany odpowiedni nagłówek, ręczne wyświetlenie adresu w przeglądarce zwraca plik. Czy miał ktoś już podobny problem?
