pomóżcie, padło.... :( Opcje

robiłem mały upgrade my.cnf... zrobiłem restart w ssh mysql-a i nie chciał wstać...

po wielu próbach zrobiłem kopie folderu mysql i zainstalowałem najnowszy mysql.

Za cholere nie chce wstać - komenda:
/etc/init.d/mysql start
Starting service MySQL warning: /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock didn't appear within 30 seconds

nie mam pomysłow, lektura google szła od 2h i dupa;/

(OpenSuse najnowszy, VPS, dostęp root SSH).

swoją drogą pytanie przy okazji bo mnie nerwy biorą (duza baza danych).
Zabezpieczyłem sobie folder mysql co był... rozumiem, że nie będzie problemów z odtworzeniem bazy na nowej instalce? (przerzut jedynie do folderu mysql?)

yast2 -i mysql mysql-client
